Layers

The Layer command lets you stack field objects on top of one another and specify which ones will print.

Every label includes a master layer that always prints. You can add an unlimited number of additional layers as needed.

Each layer that is added to a label appears similar to a transparency. When objects are added to a layer, information on the lower layers is visible through the areas that are blank. The stacking order determines how objects on one layer overlap objects on another, thus affecting the label's appearance.  Layers can be moved up or down to achieve the desired result.

When a field object is added to a label, it is placed on the layer that is active in the Layers box on the formatting toolbar. Objects can be moved to another layer singularly, or as a group.

The Layer screen allows you to add or remove layers, display or hide layers, and rearrange the order of layers.

Layering is a very important feature of enLabel Design's "destination labeling" feature. Set up each layer with the appropriate information for each locality to which you ship, then turn on the appropriate layer(s) at print time. Each layer can be set up in the appropriate language. with the appropriate addresses, images, etc.

NOTE: The default layer must be setup through the Configuration Manager for each execution service. During execution you may use the system default layer or you may include the layer in the orders file. If the destination layer is specified in the orders file it will overwrite the system default layer.

To use the system default layer, enter the layer name in the Default Layer Name field of the Configuration Manager. To set the layer through the order at execution, enter the following in the Configuration Manager Layer Field Name: Destination_Country.For more information about setting up layers, see the Configuration Manual.
