Layout

The Layout tab sets the design mode, page dimensions, and label layout. It also lets you select the Units of Measure for designing the label.

The Preview displays the selected label layout page. As you make changes to the label layout, the preview is updated. If the label layout has an error, the page background in the preview window appears in red.

Your layout can be a single page or multiple pages. The multi-page option is convenient when creating inserts, instructions for use, technical data sheets, manuals, or any other multi-page documents.

Customized layouts can be created and saved to appear on the Predefined Labels tab.

To access the layout tab:

Choose File > Label Properties or right click on a label and select Label Layout. The Label Properties window appears with the Layout tab selected.

Rotate the page and all of the labels 90 degrees.

NOTE: This is the same as switching a page from portrait to landscape, or from landscape to portrait.

NOTE: If there is only one label per page, set the horizontal repeat to the label's width and the vertical repeat to the label's height.

CAUTION: Horizontal and vertical repeats are the distance from an edge of one label to the same edge on the next, NOT the separation between labels.

Auto Separate

Automatically calculate the horizontal and vertical repeat based on page and label data entered.

Units of Measure

Select unit of measure for all features including rulers and field placement. Choices are inches, decimal inches, millimeters, centimeters, points, twips, and picas.

To save the label layout:

To save a label in the user defined labels section, go to File > Label Properties and click Save on the Layout tab. Enter a layout name when prompted. The layout will then appear on the Predefined Labels tab.
