PROBLEM

CAUSE

SOLUTION

Cannot move a guide

Guides are locked.

Uncheck Options > Lock Guides.

Cannot select an object

The object is part of a group that spans multiple levels and one or more of the levels is disabled.

Selection filter is set to ignore that type of object.

Choose Options > Preferences, and then select the Pointer Tool tab. Check the box next to the type of object you'd like to be able to select.

Cannot rotate an object

The object is part of a group.

Select the group of fields and press CTRL+E.

The text object is using a font that cannot be rotated.

Select the object, and then change its font using the formatting toolbar.

Tools that usually appear on the toolbars are not available.

The user has entered the password for print only and not the appropriate password for editing the file.

Log out and open the software again. Enter the proper password for editing labels.

When I click on an object a different object is selected

The object selected is in front of the object you want to select.

Hold down the CTRL key and repeatedly press the left mouse button until the appropriate object is selected.

Autosave takes a long time to complete on a label with a large picture.

Press the esc key while saving and the current autosave is aborted.

Turn off autosave by choosing Options > Preferences, selecting the General tab, and entering 0 in the Time between auto-saves box.

Reduce the compression used when saving pictures by choosing Options > Preferences, selecting the General tab, and unselecting the Use maximum picture compression checkbox.

Cannot undo rotate

Rotate again in the opposite direction.

Cannot undo zoom

Zoom again in the opposite direction.

Object order changes from top to back (or back to front) when I move the object.

The field order is set for each label separately. If an object is moved from one label to another the order is reset.

Make sure the object is not spanning more than one label. Reset its order on its current label.
