Add a Rich Text Field

Add a rich text field to include information with varying font properties (size, color, style, etc.).

There are several ways to add a rich text field. Rich text field objects can be added by using the menu, the toolbar icon or the Drag and Drop feature from the toolbox.

First, make sure that wizards are disabled. Then use one of these methods to add a rich text field and the Rich Text Properties window appears.

  • Choose Tools > Rich Text, then click on the location to place the rich text on your label and drag to form a rich text box.

  • OR

  • Click the Rich Text Tool icon , then click on the location to place the rich text on your label and drag to form a rich text box.

  • OR

  • Click the Default Objects pane, then click on the Rich Text Tool and drag it to the location to place the rich text on your label.

To add a constant rich text field:

Add a constant rich text field to enter information to print on every label.

      1. Add a rich text field using one of the above methods.

      2. Once the Rich Text Properties window appears, highlight Constant in the Data Type drop-down box under the Data tab.

      3. Enter the rich text to print on every label in the Current Value box.

      4. Highlight parts of the rich text to change and use the font selector and text formatting tools to change them.

      5. Click the Check Spelling button to check the spelling of the information in the Current Value box.

      6. Click OK.

To create a rich text object from a database field:

      1. Create the database field if you have not already done so. See Creating a Database Field.

      2. Place the database  field in the gray area off the label.

      3. Select the database field and select Edit > Hidden. The field appears in gray.

        NOTE: When an object is hidden, it is not printed.

      4. Add a rich text field.

      5. Select Merge/Link in the Data Type drop- down menu under the Data tab.

      6. Select Data type options.

      7. Select From Label from the drop-down menu in the Merge/Link window.

      8. Select the Add button.

      9. Select the database  field you grayed out in Step 3.

      10. Click OK.
